CVED recognizes business advisers in Mindanao

The PBSP-Corporate Volunteers for Enterprise Development
(CVED) Program will recognize eight exemplary business advisers
in Mindanao on August 25, 2006 at the Grand Men Seng Hotel in Davao City. These volunteer advisers (VAs) coached and mentored eight micro and small enterprises involved in rice production, mango processing, food processing and metal manufacturing during the PBSP FY 2004-2005.

Representatives from the Canadian Embassy, the Canadian International Development Agency, CVED Advisory Committee, PBSP’s Mindanao Executive Committee, PBSP’s Manila office
and from the client-beneficiaries will attend the event.

As of date, CVED Davao has 115 VAs, who come from the Foundation’s member companies, government agencies, academe, professional and civic organizations, and other private companies in Regions IX, X, XI, XII and XIII. These VAs are experts in marketing, organizational management, information & communication technology, operations management, accounting and finance.

The program currently has 48 clients and is still expanding its operations in Cagayan de Oro City, Sultan Kudarat, Kidapawan, Makilala in North Cotabato, Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte and Davao Oriental.

The PBSP-CVED Program provides business advisory service to strengthen micro and small enterprises (MSEs) with the help of volunteer business advisers. A partnership with the Canadian Executive Services Organization (CESO) and with funding support from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA),
CVED matches entrepreneurs with its pool of VAs.

For more information on CVED, contact Mr. Virgilio San Juan,
CVED program manager at (02) 527-7741 local 105 or email vasanjuan@pbsp.org.ph.
