Benchmarking Corporate Citizenship
Practice 2003 Report
Respondents’
Profile
A total of 49 companies participated in the Benchmarking CC survey.
Respondents from Luzon and Metro Manila comprised 82%, while 18% were
from Mindanao and the Visayas.
By industry sector, Manufacturing has 31%, Financing with 18%, and
the rest scattered among agriculture, fishery and forestry; mining
and quarrying; electricity, gas and water; wholesale and retail trade;
transportation and communication; and community, social and related
businesses.
On Leadership
Garnering the highest rating, leadership has a very positive result
as it commands the most influence on a company’s internal and
external values and thrusts. A minority though, wished their CEOs
and Corporate Officers would take a more active role as champions
of the company’s social and environmental agenda.
On
Policy Setting
Most companies have clearly defined their CC policies but many acknowledged
the need to improve in communicating and sharing policy-related information
with the employees, communities, and other stakeholders.
On Assessment and Reporting
The study showed that monitoring and evaluation is the least practiced
element. Measuring CC accomplishment in terms of Key Result Area (KRA)
is the most common approach used, while measuring the impact of CC
programs on the company and the community remains a rarity.
