A fragmented society. A deep socio-economic divide. Violence becoming a voice of the marginalized. This was the reality that shaped PBSP’s 7th Five-Year Plan (2001-2006).

Positive actions called the Four Pillars concretely established the Foundation’s role in addressing the gap between the living standards of the rich and the poor in the country. PBSP hopes to raise 1.2 billion pesos to fund its various programs under the five-year plan.

Information Technology for Poverty Alleviation

Poverty alleviating opportunities within reach in the web
Access or lack of access to IT is fast becoming the measure of marginalization in an increasingly interconnected world. IT is being integrated in the operation of PBSP’s programs and will be the focus of educational programs for the poor.

PBSP works to provide greater access to IT and create markets for SMEs and the agriculture sector. It is also complementary to its goal of creating a competitive workforce.

"To implement developmental projects, and reap success in terms of improving the quality of life of those we assist, we need to have a physical presence in the areas that we operate in. Effective intervention involves a faster response to the needs of our target beneficiaries, financial and technical assistance must be readily available to our poverty groups. It is not enough to have them but, more importantly, we are able to deliver such services at the shortest possible time."
