A fragmented society. A deep socio-economic divide.
Violence becoming a voice of the marginalized.
This was the reality that shaped PBSP’s
7th Five-Year Plan (2001-2006).
Positive actions called the “Four
Pillars”
concretely established the Foundation’s
role in addressing the gap between the living
standards of the rich and the poor in the country.
PBSP hopes to raise 1.2 billion pesos to fund
its various programs under the five-year plan.
Access
to basic services and building partnerships for
more impact
PBSP is taking on the problem of poverty by improving
access to basic services, education, and credit,
and developing new workforce skills for the poor
to use in uplifting their lives. It continues to
forge partnerships with people’s organizations
and other NGOs in realizing organizational capability
at the grassroots.
It supports policies in aid of poverty alleviation
and adopts sustainable use of natural resources
in all its programs.
The Foundation’s programs in poverty alleviation
aims to reach 3.2 million poor Filipinos in five
years.

Pro-active
CSR to enhance the triple bottomline
PBSP recognizes the maturing of the corporate
citizen and makes sure that its poverty responses
reflect its member-companies’ corporate
social responsibility (CSR) goals. All programs
involve our member companies at all stages of
implementation and review.
The Foundation also assists members to examine
their CSR practices and gauge their effectiveness.
It is setting the standards in measuring CSR and
building the resources and the programs that will
allow them to become leading examples of corporate
citizenship.

Resources
for concrete and cutting-edge CSR technology
As corporate citizenship spreads, pioneering organizations
like PBSP become the guides for those who are
new to the practice of CSR. PBSP will blaze the
trail for the corporate citizen. As the collective
business response, it continues to discover new
areas where member corporations can meaningfully
express their CSR.
It is making itself into a resource for the business
sector to tap in developing their CSR. It links
with other sectors in the Philippine society and
with other CSR advocates worldwide to send the
message that PBSP, as a unique Filipino CSR initiative,
is enlarging the concrete participation of corporate
citizens in social development.

Poverty
alleviating opportunities within reach in the
web
Access or lack of access to IT is fast becoming
the measure of marginalization in an increasingly
interconnected world. IT is being integrated in
the operation of PBSP’s programs and will
be the focus of educational programs for the poor.
PBSP works to provide greater access to IT and
create markets for SMEs and the agriculture sector.
It is also complementary to its goal of creating
a competitive workforce.
