The Aboitiz Group of Companies led by PBSP-founding member Aboitiz and Company (ACO), continues to touch the lives of Filipino communities programs on education, enterprise development, primary health and childcare. The Aboitiz Foundation, implementing arm of ACO's social development programs, coordinates with other Aboitiz companies for their respective CSR initiatives.  Among the Group’s achievements are the following: 1,300 scholars supported every year, 261 classrooms built, over 1,000 computers donated, over 60 computer labs refurbished, and over 15,000 students who have benefited from library kit donations. Under enterprise development, the Aboitiz Foundation conducts technical skills training and the microfinancing of deserving cooperatives. In primary health and childcare, it constructed 18 piped water distribution systems for marginalized communities and conducts medical, dental and optical missions. Aboitiz subsidiaries also initiate and implement projects in their local areas of operations.

DAVAO LIGHT AND POWER COMPANY

The Davao power utility allocated over P10 million for various CSR projects in 2010. Its main engagement is in education projects like infrastructure and equipment donations, scholarships, and other initiatives like training out-of-school youth and building the first library hub in Davao City in cooperation with DepEd. The company also supports medical and dental missions, medicines and the construction of small potable water systems. It assists in environment and ecology protection, values inculcation, and mangrove planting with support from fisherfolk who committed to undertake its maintenance. Davao Light maintains a Davao City-operated 911 emergency response service initiated by then-president Alfonso Y. Aboitiz.

COTABATO LIGHT AND POWER COMPANY

In 2009-2010, Cotabato Light and Power donated school buildings, refurbished classrooms, donated computer units to schools, supports scholars, and works with neighboring schools for the implementation of the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela school maintenance program every year. Other initiatives in 2010 included tree planting activities as well as computer donations to police stations to improve crime response efficiency and records keeping.

PILMICO FOODS CORPORATION

Aboitiz’ Pilmico Foods Corporation implements scholarship programs that have made significant gains.  Two of its college scholars recently graduated at the top of their classes and passed the agriculturist licensure examination, with one placing sixth. Both scholars are now working for Pilmico. In 2010, over P7 million was allocated to fund the company’s education projects.  Sharing the same passion for a better environment with other Aboitiz companies, Pilmico’s environmental protection and conservation initiatives include treeplanting and mangrove reforestation.

ABOITIZ JEBSEN BULK TRANSPORT CORPORATION

The company’s CSR approach is along the lines of marine engineering and the provision of scholarships to deserving nursing students in Cebu, Davao and Iloilo. Over one million pesos of Aboitiz Jebsen’s budget go to these scholarship programs every year.
