More than 80 business leaders and representatives convened on June 4, 2022 to discuss stronger private sector support to early grade education in the country through the Advancing Basic Education in the Philippines project (ABC+) conference at the Makati Diamond Residences in Makati City.
PBSP Executive Director Elvin Ivan Y. Uy, joined representatives from Smart Communications, Microsoft Philippines, The Asia Foundation, and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Human Resources Development Foundation (PCCI-HRDF) to discuss sustainable and programmatic private sector interventions that could complement the national and local government’s efforts in helping Filipino early-grade learners.
With the theme Early Grade Learning is Everyone's Business, the panelists also highlighted current interventions to encourage new partnership and strengthen the engagement for early grade education.
To culminate the event, participants signed a pledge board that signified their intention and commitment to work with other stakeholders in education including the government, Filipino families, and grassroots communities in advancing improved early grade learning in the country.
The conference was organized by The Advancing Basic Education in the Philippines project (ABC+), in partnership with the Asia Foundation, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Human Resources Development Foundation (PCCI-HRDF), RTI International, and the Department of Education (DepEd).
