Top leaders in the business community were once again gathered during the 53rd Annual Membership Meeting and Foundation Day, celebrating the theme, “Resurgence: Enabling Change, Empowering Communities” on January 23, 2024 at Dusit Thani Manila in Makati City.
The theme emphasizes PBSP’s role for social development initiatives and collaborative efforts in fostering a renewed and empowered sense of community. It also signifies a collective rise from challenges and setbacks, embracing sustainability, innovation, inclusivity, and resilience.
Executive Director Elvin Ivan Y. Uy has also announced the renewed commitment of the organization by unveiling the ‘NextGen Initiatives’, which aim to address persistent challenges in children malnutrition and stunting, provide assistance in early grade learning, and offer a program to ensure that obliged enterprises adhere to the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law.
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Undersecretary Denise Florence Bernos-Bragas and Mr. Roberto "Ka Dodoy" Ballon, a 2021 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee, were the two keynote speakers. They emphasized how important development strategies are to combating poverty and inequality.
The yearly gathering of all PBSP members, donors, and partners were highlighted by the panel discussion of Mayor Sitti Hataman of Isabela City, Basilan; NEDA Usec. Rosemarie Edillon; Ken Abante of WeSolve Foundation; and President and CEO of Philippine Seven Corporation and PBSP trustee, Mr. Vic Paterno.
