Coconut Nursery Farm and Demo Groundbreaking Ceremony

A ceremonial groundbreaking for the Coconut Seedling Nursery and Breeding Garden with Demo Farm was held in Brooke's Point, Palawan. The Rizal Multipurpose Cooperative was chosen as the recipient of the intervention under the More With Less (MWL) in the Philippine Coconut Industry Project.

The ceremony was attended by Brooke's Point Municipal Mayor, Cesareo Benedito Jr. and Barangay Captain Rhodora E. Rasimo. It was also attended by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), and other local government officials. Mr. Gari Enriquez, PBSP Grant Management and Implementation (GMI) Manager, and Ms. Jhoie Tionloc, MWL Project Manager, were also present.

MWL is a five-year project funded by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, with the ultimate goal of contributing to Sustainable Development Goal No. 8 by stimulating higher levels of economic activity in the coconut sector through technological upgrading and innovation, and by focusing on safe and labor-intensive production of high-value added products from coconut.

The project is being implemented by Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), in partnership with Lionheart Farms Philippines Corporation, BaiAni Foundation Inc., and Philippine Coconut Authority.
