1AP Water Demand Management Training

In celebration of the World Water Week (August 20-24, 2023), PBSP Water Alliance conducted a water demand management (WDM) training with Aboitiz Power Corporation's Safety, Health, Environment, and Security (SHE) Team.

Mr. Richard Cruz, Vice-President for AP SHES led the two-day, in-person activity held at the AP Renewables, Inc. MakBan Geothermal Power Plant. Participants of the training included SHE team members from Aboitiz Power’s various business units, including those from power generation and power distribution.

The WDM training is among the company’s initiatives on environmental protection as it seeks to raise awareness and capacitate its SHE team on water conservation.

WDM was adopted and promoted by the Water Alliance as an effective strategy for reducing water footprint. It is the development and implementation of strategies to influence demand that would result in efficient water consumption and examines the supply and demand to identify where to apply water reduction efforts. Businesses are adopting WDM because it supports the indicators for water sustainability assessments being utilized in evaluating business risks.

The training was successfully implemented with the support of dedicated Water Alliance WDM Training Team members, including Engr. Albert Samuela, Marketing Director of Nalco Water an Ecolab Company; Engr. Romalyn Uy, Assistant Manager for NRW Solutions and Services of Maynilad Water; Engr. Ryan Revilla, NRW Engineer of Maynilad Water; Mr. Domingo Perez, Lead Environmental Consultant of San Miguel Corporation; Engr. Bong Fernandez, NRW Manager of Maynilad Water; with Maynilad Water Academy, and USAID Safe Water Project.
