PBSP ACCESS TB, Manila LGU, Innovations for Community Health (ICH), and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) partner together to provide free TB screening and chest X-ray in Tondo, Manila
PBSP ACCESS TB, the Manila Health Department Division of TB Prevention and Control - Manila Health Department, and Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), conducted the Active TB Case Finding (ACF) activity in Tondo, Manila. This initiative provides access to free TB screening and chest X-ray to the 24 barangays in District 1.
The Local Government of Manila, together with the ACCESS TB Project, Innovations for Community Health (ICH), and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) were able to screen more than 8,800 individuals of which, 1,186 presumptive TB patients underwent sputum test in their respective barangays. The MSF and healthcare workers mobilized household contacts and encouraged them to undergo TB treatment in line with the TB cascade of care.
PBSP ACCESS TB implements strategies to support the case-finding initiatives of the Department of Health – National TB Control Program (DOH-NTP), through the implementation of active case finding activities via community and facility-based chest X-ray screening in the Big Three Regions (NCR, Region 3 and Region 4A).
