With the theme “Grounding, Visioning, and Commitment-Setting for a Responsive Provincial Nutrition System,” the session strengthened local leadership in addressing malnutrition through data, evidence-based approaches, and multi-sector collaboration.

On February 3, 2026, Kain Tayo Pilipinas (KTP), through its Secretariat PBSP and Enablers Workstream Lead Zuellig Family Foundation (ZFF), convened an Executive Session on Nutrition with the various local government units, government agencies and civil society groups of Negros Occidental.
With the theme “Grounding, Visioning, and Commitment-Setting for a Responsive Provincial Nutrition System,” the session strengthened local leadership in addressing malnutrition through data, evidence-based approaches, and multi-sector collaboration, all critical to improving maternal and child nutrition.

Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson, along with mayors from Toboso, E.B. Magalona, La Castellana, Calatrava, and La Carlota City were present. They were joined by their health, nutrition, and planning officers as well as from 6 other local government units (LGUs) namely, San Carlos City, Cauayan, Don Salvador Benedicto, Ilog, Pontevedra, and Valladolid. Using ZFF’s NutriLEAP program framework, the province and LGUs assessed their nutrition situation and identified priority actions, reinforcing commitments to stronger governance and coordinated action for better nutrition and food security outcomes.
Regional partners from the National Nutrition Council - Region VI and Department of Health Negros Island Region - Center for Health Development joined and provided technical support. Also present were KTP Nutrition Workstream Lead, Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Business Network and local KTP partners in Negros Occidental: Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation, Negrense Volunteers for Change, and the University of St. La Salle.
KTP unites the private sector under a shared mission: ending hunger for Filipinos. As a private sector–led coalition, KTP works to sustainably address malnutrition and food insecurity in support of government efforts.
