The engagement is part of the newly-launched Farmers Grow, with the goal to provide full value chain assistance to farmers.

PBSP’s Director for Operations Kristine Rivadelo and Senior Program Officer Dennis Ellorimo joined Nestlé Government and Industry Affairs Executive Donnel Tiedra for a visit to New Eden Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Pangantucan, Bukidnon to assess the ongoing Farmers Grow partnership with Yara Fertilizers Philippines, Inc. in providing access to farm inputs financing for an initial batch of coffee farmers. Yara’s team is led by its Market Development Specialist Ms. Lyza Quilong-Quilong.

The engagement is part of the newly-launched Farmers Grow, with the goal to provide full value chain assistance to farmers through Nestle’s technical assistance, input support and training for a period of 3 years, in partnership with NGOs and other stakeholders led by the Philippine Business for Social Progress and Grow Asia Philippines Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture (PPSA).
The collaboration is envisioned to include NGO-Private Sector-Government Agencies to support small farmer holdings in organization through provision of resources to the value chain and eventually additional income stream to the farmers.
PBSP, in partnership with Kennemer Foods International, Mars Foods and Agronomika Finance Corporation, has gotten the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark for the implementation of the landmark project “Sustainable Integration of Philippine Smallholder Farmers into the Global Cacao Value Chain” which is expected to assist 1,000 smallholder farmers in Palawan and Mindanao.
