Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), in partnership with Accenture in the Philippines and YMCA of Manila, celebrated the graduation of batch five of the Nanays-in-IT Program on May 8, 2026, held at the Accenture office in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

This year’s cohort marked the largest batch of graduates to date, with 68 mothers successfully completing the six-month program out of nearly 300 applicants nationwide. Originally focused in Metro Manila, the initiative has since expanded its reach to include participants from the Visayas and Mindanao, reflecting the growing demand for accessible digital skills training across the country.

Launched during the pandemic, the Nanays-in-IT Program has now produced more than 220 graduates, continuing its mission of creating inclusive opportunities through technology. The initiative equips mothers and other vulnerable sectors with in-demand skills that can lead to flexible employment and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Among those present in recognizing the perseverance and achievements of the graduates were Accenture in the Philippines Country Managing Director Ambe Tierro, Corporate Citizenship Manager Emerson Enriquez, Corporate Citizenship Lead Philippines Rudy P. Guiao and AI+Data Managing Director Mike Lao, PBSP Executive Director Elvin Ivan Uy, and YMCA Deputy Director General Sheena Awatin. They expressed their continued commitment to advancing digital inclusion, women empowerment, and workforce readiness through collaborative partnerships.

Ambe Tierro served as the keynote speaker and emphasized that while beginning the journey requires significant courage, it is equally important to persist through challenges, and maintain a support network of mentors and peers.

“This is what Nanays-in-IT is all about: opening doors. And I am glad that you walked in because, more than the graduation and end of this six-month program, what is really admirable is the courage to begin and continue," Ms. Tierro shared.

In his message, Elvin Ivan Uy lauded how the program reflects PBSP’s commitment to social progress that promotes fair participation and representation.

"This graduation day is equally significant for PBSP because it reflects what inclusive development truly means by creating opportunities that transform lives and empower communities. At PBSP, we remain committed to uplifting vulnerable sectors by expanding access to sustainable livelihoods, workforce development, and entrepreneurship opportunities," Mr. Uy said.

Rudy Guiao also affirmed that motherhood should not be seen as a barrier to professional advancement, especially when building a career in the digital sector.

"At Accenture we strongly believe that technology should not only drive innovation but also create opportunities and transform lives and that is the heart of Nanays-in-IT. It is about proving that dreams do not expire and that motherhood is not a limitation that stops someone from becoming a tech professional," Guiao said.

Through the sustained partnership with Accenture in the Philippines, the project will continue equipping underserved Filipinos with job-ready skills to succeed in an increasingly digital economy.
