PBSP Project Manager for More with Less Project, Ms. Jhoie Tionloc, as guest speaker during the opening of the 15th Pista y Ang Kaniyog'n in the municipality of Brooke's Point, Palawan province.
Ms. Tionloc highlighted the importance of the coconut industry particularly to Brookes' Point and the whole province. As part of the celebration of Women's Month, she also emphasized the crucial role of women including children in developing an inclusive community.
She was welcomed by municipal Mayor Cesareo Benedito Jr. and Vice-Mayor Atty. Mary Jean Feliciano.
Funded by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, More with Less (MWL) is a five-year project, implemented in Palawan, Quezon, and Lanao del Norte that aims to contribute to Sustainable Development Goal No. 8 by stimulating higher levels of economic activity in the coconut sector through technological upgrading and innovation, and by focusing on safe and labor-intensive production of high-value added products from coconut sap.
MWL is being implemented by Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), in partnership with Lionheart Farms Philippines Corporation, BaiAni Foundation Inc. , and Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA).
PBSP, in partnership with Kennemer Foods International, Mars Foods and Agronomika Finance Corporation, has gotten the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark for the implementation of the landmark project “Sustainable Integration of Philippine Smallholder Farmers into the Global Cacao Value Chain” which is expected to assist 1,000 smallholder farmers in Palawan and Mindanao.
