Through additional support provided under The Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response Mechanism, PBSP ACCESS TB formally turned over a new Oxygen Generating Plant to Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC) in Tacloban City.

In 2013, Super Typhoon Yolanda destroyed EVMC’s on-site oxygen generation capability, leaving the facility dependent on external suppliers for over a decade. Today’s turnover marks an important step in restoring this critical capacity. With the OGP able to refill approximately 300 oxygen cylinders daily, the facility will have a more sustainable source of medical oxygen, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the region’s preparedness for future public health emergencies.

More than ten years after Yolanda, this milestone highlights the enduring resilience of Eastern Visayas and the power of partnerships in rebuilding stronger health systems. PBSP remains committed to advancing comprehensive, inclusive, and sustainable health programs for Filipino communities
