In commemoration of World Tuberculosis Day, PBSP ACCESS TB and Siemens Healthineers have formed a strategic partnership to accelerate TB case detection and support the country’s fight for a TB-free future. This collaboration will introduce an end-to-end diagnostic solution across Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON.
As part of this initiative, 28 digital chest X-ray machines equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) software will be donated to public hospitals in these three key regions. This advanced technology is expected to screen over 120,000 individuals each month, helping to identify and treat the “missing cases” of TB within communities and healthcare facilities.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Philippines ranks as the fourth-largest contributor of TB cases globally, accounting for 6.8% of total cases and 17% of high-incidence cases in 2023.
Through this partnership, PBSP ACCESS TB and Siemens Healthineers reaffirm their commitment to strengthening the country’s TB response, improving healthcare accessibility, and moving closer to a TB-free Philippines.
This initiative is part of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, through its COVID-19 Response Mechanism (C19RM) program
