PBSP celebrates 54th AMM and Foundation Day

PBSP celebrated its 54th Annual Membership Meeting (AMM) and Foundation Day with the theme, “LIVE FORWARD: Driving Prosperity for All,” on January 28, 2025, at Dusit Thani Manila in Makati City.

This year’s theme was in consideration of the national effort to become an upper-middle-income country by 2025. Standing firm in PBSP’s belief that development should benefit all Filipinos (particularly underserved and marginalized communities), the theme resonated as a call to action in every part of the celebration.

Executive Director Elvin Ivan Y. Uy reported on the organization's continued reach and impact. He lauded all members, partners, and donors who have directly improved the lives of community partners and beneficiaries across the country.

Mr. Elvin Ivan Y. Uy delivers his executive director's report.

A highlight of the gathering was the keynote address of Ms. Miriam Coronel-Ferrer, the first woman in the world to sign a final peace accord with a non-state armed group as chief negotiator and an awardee of the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Foundation Award for Women Pioneer in Peacebuilding in 2023. She discussed her experience as a peace negotiator and how it correlates to the development sector’s critical role in building a more just, inclusive, and equitable future for all Filipinos.

Ms. Miriam Coronel-Ferrer gives her keynote address and answers a few questions from the audience.

This was followed by a lively question and answer portion. The majority of the questions prompted reflections on the root causes of disparities and how to foster collaborative partnerships that empower communities and drive sustainable progress.

The event also paid tribute to the two founders of PBSP, Ambassador Howard Q. Dee and Dr. Sixto K. Roxas III. Both left a legacy not only to the organization but also to other philanthropic endeavors in the country, serving as an inspiration for the broader corporate social responsibility and charitable giving landscape.

PBSP’s Annual Membership Meeting and Foundation Day brings together members, partners, and staff to reflect on the organization’s legacy, review the year’s achievements and challenges, and outline its plans for the year ahead.

Board of Trustees recognize the legacy of Ambassador Howard Q. Dee and Dr. Sixto K. Roxas III. Ms. Ma. Teresa Roxas, daughter of SKR III and Mr. Richard Dee, son of Amb. Dee, receive the plaque of appreciation.
