As a commitment to securing a promising next generation, PBSP launched its NextGen Initiatives in Mabuhay, Zamboanga Sibugay last March 8, 2024. Through the collective efforts of PBSP and the Local Government Unit of Mabuhay, led by Mayor Edreluisa Caloñge, 30 pregnant women received free prenatal tests and vitamin supplements as well as nutrition education to help ensure the health of both the mothers and their children under the Masustansyang Pagbubuntis, Masiglang Kamusmusan (MaMa) Program.

On the same day, LETRA-Literacy Enrichment Training and Reading Assistance (initially Lunchbox Library) kicked off in Mabuhay, attended by parents, teachers, and the tutors who would be capacitated by the program to help improve the literacy of 250 K-3 students in Mabuhay.

MaMa and LETRA are two of the flagship programs under PBSP's NextGen Initiatives. MaMa, a 36-month program that starts with providing pregnant women with prenatal support and extends to complementary feeding of their children until 2 years of age, is a long term commitment of PBSP to help address malnutrition and stunting. LETRA, on the other hand, is an effort to help address the education crisis through a literacy program that would benefit both teachers and students.
